Luwai means “whistling thorn” in the native language of the Meru tribe. It refers to a special type of acacia tree with hollow, round thorns. These thorns are home to ants, and when the wind blows through their holes, they produce a soft whistling sound.
The whistling thorn represents resilience, harmony with nature, and the creativity of rural life, values that inspire our foundation.
The logo symbolizes resilience, vitality, and the deep connection between people and nature, and is inspired by the tree of life from the Meru culture.
The two intertwined trunks symbolize the partnership between the foundation and the communities we support. They embody cooperation, mutual respect, and common goals. The green leaves form a vibrant crown, representing growth and renewal and symbolizing the various initiatives that are blossoming.
LUWAI FOUNDATION empowers women and youngsters in rural areas to build prosperity, to have proper education, improve health, and claim their freedom, contributing to a vibrant and sustainable local economy.
We envision a just society where everyone enjoys equal rights to a sustainable livelihood and well-being, and actively shapes their community as engaged citizens
